Mr.Pate: I have visited the page you sent for my gr-gr-grandfather, Joseph
W. HOLMES.
I do appreciate the wonderful work you have done and will tell all family
and friends of your web site
and what you have done for the preservation of our History.
The rootsweb site does not take attachments but did you recieve at your
personal e-mail address
the copy of the Discharge Paper? If so, could you possibly tell me what
is written in the signature
area at the bottom of the page?
Also, what would I have to do to get Joseph's brothers included on your
site....Thomas , WHJ, and Claiborne. The older brother, Charles was
mentally incompetant, possibly caused by birth trauma.
I also have other Census Records. and the story of the Land Henry BIVEN's
gave as a Wedding Gift
as told by grandfather, Joe HOLMES who lived to the age of 98+. And a
picture taken of the Historical
Tombstone for Thomas Charles "Goldie" HOLMES near Farrsville; taken several
years ago. It was in the middle of a pine thicket forest and we had to walk
the last part to get there. I am afraid it may be impossible to find
again.. The family has now had the names of Thomas, WHJ, and Joseph
inscribed on the monument on the Newton County Courthouse Square. But I
have been unable to find the descendants of Claiborne...
perhaps his wife remarried and they moved away??
Thanks you again! Irene HOLMES WALTON Nacogdoches, TX
