Hello, I am new to this list, and may have sent this already, but then, may
have done it wrong, so bear with me, please. I am searching for my grandpa,
Charles William Eichelberger b. Oct 22, 1896 prob. in IN. and d. March 10,
1977 in Bremen, IN. He ma. Riley Victoria Earlywine in 1933, in Clay Cty.,
IN. Now, Charles was an orphan...we don't know when, but the 1900 census
stated that he was already living at his foster parents' house. So, I would
think that he was probably orphaned very young...before 4 yrs. old. His
foster parents were Daniel Winklepleck and Cordelia. Now, I have a couple
of theories about this--since, there doesn't seem to be any type of foster
or adoption papers on him or them, they were just kind folks and took him
in...he lived with them until he married in 1933. He was also claimed as a
son, yet, when he went into the WWI service, he found out his real name was
Eichelberger, and that is what he used from then on. My other theory is
that Cordelia was the real mother and just pretended that he was a foster
child, so she could raise him. If you have any info on these people, please
contact me

Thank you,

Victoria Eichelberger Dean
