There is an entire division of elfers in Cincinnati. I am currently trying to trace the origin of my gggf John Elfers married to Anna. Who begat Joseph>Robert Sr.>Robert Jr.>RobertIII (that would be me). I did find a census that shows that he immigrated from Germany in 1896 and would have been 12yo. There are many graves including his in the cemetary of Ss. Peter and Paul on Reading Rd. in Reading, OH. The census also lists his occupation as "chemist". I was going to have a relative of mine follow up on that bit of info and see if there are any employee records at Proctor and Gamble.

If you can save me some trouble and tell me where he immigrated from and with who I would be very grateful.

I can also provide a detailed list of current decendants for you. I would just need to make a few phone calls and it will be quite a list indeed.
