Hallo to everyone, please put your thinking caps on.
Please...please.... does anyone out there have any connections to families living in Lydbrook, especially at Vention, Moorwood, Joys Green, Ruardean and surrounding area from 1820 - 1920? I am particularly looking for FLUCK, DAVIES, PRITCHARD,
STE(V)PHENS and EVANS. It would help me no end if anyone has knowledge of Kezia, John and Thomas DAVIES and Alfred PRITCHARD and Alfred and STEVENS. (It is possible that these last two may be one and the same), and his son Albert STEVENS. Alfred PRITCHARD was sometime water bailiff at the Courtfield Estate and previously maybe a cattle breeder/dealer in Pembroke at some point. He is named as an Army pensioner, and apparently served with the Gloucestershire Hussars, although at this point the Army can't trace him. I am also desperate to find the David EVANS who married Hannah DAVIES around 1906,7,8, somewhere..... maybe in the Forest or perhaps in Glamorgan. Hannah was the daughter of Eliza DAVIES (nee FLUCK) , who, in turn was the daughter of Eliza and Walter DAVIES. I have details of the census returns but need a connection to find the marriage of Hannah and David. Hannah would have been about 29 years old at this time.
Does anyone have knowledge of the whereabouts of the marriage registers of the Lydbrook Wesleyan Chapel please? The christening book is at the Glos Record Office, but they do not have the marriage registers and neither does the office at Cinderford.
The Chapel closed around 1950 ish and the books should have been sent to Gloucester R.O. or to the Registrar but were not.
Thanks,
Beryl.
