Have decided to try a new tack to see if I can knock a few bricks out of my wall! Is there anyone researching the name SMITH from the Lydbrook area please? I am looking for an Eliza Smith born c1818 in Lydbrook and married a John Hale. She is on my great grandfather's birth certificate (the only certificate of the family I have yet managed to trace) and he was born in 1849. I found the family on the 1851 census, John, Eliza, Elizabeth, Mary, John, Moses, and Thomas. I am presuming (!!!) they married prior to 1839 which is about the time Elizabeth was born, if the census is correct.

Any help gratefully received.
