Researching Eubanks from Pope County, Ark. My ggrandfather was James "Jim" Henry Eubanks born, 1874 in Pope Co., Ark. (Married to Georgia Ann Howard) His father was Robert Franklin, born 1848 in Pope Co., Ark.(Married to Ellen Jane Boen) His father was James Eubanks born ca 1812 in Tn. or Ala.(Wife's name Mary) James was in Ark. by 1834/35 and on the Pope County Census in 1840. We believe that James could be the 8th child of Lewis(who was in Ark. by 1834/35 when he signed a petition for postal service there.) We have no actual proof of our James being the son of Lewis. Some researchers don't believe Lewis had an 8th child. Does anyone have a copy of Lewis's will or information on James. There is also confusion because Lewis had a son Tarleton who had a son James. This James was James T. Eubanks and his wife was also Mary. Another theory is that our James is the son of John Eubanks from Giles County Tn. John is listed on the 1820 census in Giles with a child that could fit. T!
he 1830 Giles County Census shows James as head of the household with an older man living with him, which could possibly be his father, John. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who could shed some light on this.
