State of Georgia
This Indenture made this first day of September one thousand Seven hundred and
ninety Seven and in the 22d year of American Independence Between Solomon
Barfield of Hancock County and State aforesaid of the one part, and John
Harman of Warren County and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth,
that the said Solomon Barfield for and in consideration of the Sum of fifty
pounds sterling money to him in hand paid by the sd. John Harman, at the
sealing and delivery of these presents, hath bargained and sold and by these
presents doth transfer and Sell unto the aforesaid John Harman, a tract of
land lying & situated on the waters of Williams's Creek in the County of
Warren and state aforesaid, Beginning at a Hickory on Stone's line N. 45 fifty
chs to a post Oak S.65W. 23 chs. to a stake N.25W. 16 chs. to a post oak
S.10W. 37 chs. to a pine S.65W. 19 chs. to a post oak S.25E. to a Hickory
corner on Shuffield's line, from thence a direct line to the Beginning,
containing one hundred and fifty seven acres, more or less. To have and to
hold the sd. tract of land with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto
belonging and the sd. Solomon Barfield for himself and his Heirs forever the
aforesaid tract or parcel of land unto the said John Harman his Heirs and
assigns forever against all claims or demands whatsoever doth warrant and
defend. In witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and
year above written.
