James J. "Lightening" Hill

HILL James J. "Lightening", age 65, passed away after a courageous battle with
cancer on Sunday, June 7, 1998. Jimmy was known for his active involvement
with youth in all sports, especially those youth attending Southeast High
School from 1983 to present. Jimmy was an avid sports fan as a spectator and
participant. He especially enjoyed his activities at the YMCA. Jimmy never met
a stranger. Born in Carnegie, OK on June 20, 1932 to the late Roy & Ethel
Hill. Jimmy grew up and attended school in Carnegie. He & his wife, the former
Katheryn Lavender, were married 45 years in March. He served in the Korean War
& received several medals. They moved to OKC in 1955. Jimmy is survived by his
wife, Katheryn of the home; his daughter, Sharon Kaye & husband, James &
granddaughter, Amanda Fullingim, son, Michael & wife, Nancy all of OKC; 4
sisters, Royce Salyer of Denison, TX, Perdeita Reid of College Station, TX,
Katherine Guest of Corinth, KY, & Sandy GAMEL of Salt Lake City, UT; &
numerous nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by his parents & three sisters,
Dortha, Betty, Billie Ann & brother, Don Hill. Services will be held 2:00 PM
Thurs., June 11, 1998, at the Westmore Baptist Church with internment at the
Carnegie Cemetery.
