04/08/1994

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Putnam City Baptist Church for John
S. Gammill, founder of Reserve National Insurance Co. and a benefactor of
medical research.

Gammill died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. He was 70.

In 1990, Reserve National gave $1 million to establish a research fund and the
John S. Gammill Chair in Polycystic Research at the University of Oklahoma
Health Sciences Center.

After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946, Gammill moved to
Oklahoma City. He worked as a tool and die maker before entering the insurance
industry.

He began as a salesman, then operated an insurance agency before founding
Reserve National in 1956.

Gammill is survived by his wife, Dolores; two sons, Lee and Randy; six
grandchildren; a sister; and two nephews.
