AMHERST, (N.H.) October 14.

At the superior court of judicature, began and holden in this town on the
first Tuesday in October inst. Samuel Smith << Gambell>> was indicted for
stealing two yoke of oxen, and found guilty by the jury who tried him. He was
sentenced by the court to be marked with a line of India Ink, from one temple
to the other above the eye brows, and from the centre of that line, by another
line extending to the end of the nose; to pay the prosecutor two fold damages,
the oxen having been recovered, and in default of payment, to be at the
disposal of the prosecutor for the term of ten years.

acres; bounded by land of Robert << Gambell>> , Alexander Roger, and William
Davison; late the estate of James Martin; seized and taken in execution, by
