JOHN MATTHEW GANNON (b. 8/9/1864, Williamsburgh, Brooklyn d.1930s The
Bronx, NYC) the only child of a seaman, MATTHEW GANNON (b. Tipperary,
Ire) and MARY FARREL (b. Armagh or Monaghan, Ire.) housekeeper to the
Anglican Bishop of Liverpool.
John Matthew Gannon m. BRIDGET FARREL (his 1st cousin) in Liverpool. She
had gone there to stay with her aunt while she studied midwifery. John
Mathew was a ship's carpenter.
John & Bridget came to NYC in about 1904 and lived on Timson Place in the
Bronx. They had 13 children. I know of the following:
MARY GANNON m. JAMES? FLEMMING lived in Atlantic Highlands, NJ
AGNES GANNON m. LESLIE RYAN lived in Nanuet, NY
(b. 1891, d. 1982)
MARGARET GANNON became a Sister of Charity
TERESA GANNON never married lived in NYC
SARAH GANNON lived with Teresa
JOHN GANNON died very young
FRANCIS GANNON m. ANN MCPARTLAND lived in the Bronx
NORAH GANNON died young
DYMPNA GANNON died young
The others are a mystery.
I'm looking for anyone connected with this family or any Gannons with
Tipperary roots.
