Still looking for any Gannons in Tipperary.

MATTHEW GANNON (b. c1845, Tipperary Ire., d. c1910, Liverpool, Eng.)
married
MARY FARRELL (b. c1845, Cloughan, Armagh, Ire., d. ?, Liverpool, Eng.)

Matthew was a "seafaring man" and served in the US Navy on the
"Cincinatti" and the "Grand Gulf" during the Civil War.

Their son JOHN MATTHEW GANNON was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY in
1864. The family returned to Liverpool in 1865 because it was thought
that Matthew had killed a man for "insulting" Mary.

John and Mary BARTON were John Matthew's Godparents.
