Barb,

My Gannons are off my gg-grandfather, Michael Gannon and wife Bridget Heneghan. They had ten children, including a Catherine. But by the sounds of it, she is not yours. Michael's daughter Catherine was born March 7, 1876.

However, your line still sounds like it could fit in because, as I mentioned, Michael Gannon, the father mentioned above b. around 1833, had a brother John. We know nothing of John's family as we have been working on Michael and Bridget's offspring first. If there is a "Jordan" in John's line, I would not know of it yet. That is not to say it isn't there for the discovering. With the number of Catherine's and Mary's we have in the family, it would be believeable that John would use those names as well, but the proof is in the records.

The common last name for brothers Michael and John would be Lynskey (O'Loinsigh). Michael and John's mother's maiden name was Lynskey, and she was born around 1804. First name remains a mystery at this point, but a trip planned next year to Ireland should see that answered.

Fortunately for me, I have two living relatives old enough to have experienced the 1920s and their 'old' aunts and uncles back then, yet young enough to still be able to give us the particulars. One made a trip to Ireland 35 years ago and met some of her cousins there. With that little thread of information, we were able to reconnect with the next generation living in Ireland. They are the ones who had the papers with family names and dates. It is now our job to get copies of the church's records substantiating that info.

I'll email you with further info for you to compare. Do you know your John Gannon's parents' names?

We're getting closer! Mary (Gannon/Cluff....) Wilson
