I also have an Austin Gannon from County Mayo who was born to Thomas and Catharine (Kitty) Igo(e) in August 1857. He had two older sisters, Catharine (b.1852) and Mary (b. 1855) and a younger brother, Thomas (b. 1859). A Peter Henaghan and Margaret Halligan are listed as the sponsors for Catharine's baptism in 1852. My research places them in the RC parish of Burriscarra and Ballintubber. This is a Roman Catholic parish near Castlebar. Austin and Thomas both emigrated to Madison, Wisconsin in the early 1880's. One of the daughters also came to the US and married a J.J. Farrell and was living in Chicago in 1915. Austin, my great-grandfather, married Mary Kelly.

If there is a connection anywhere please get in touch with me at . Thanks.

How far back can you take your Gannon line? Oftentimes, the first names are passed down. I have an Austin Gannon from County Mayo Ireland who married his cousin Catherine Heneghan in the USA. He was born in 1869, son of Michael and Bridget Gannon of Murrisk, Mayo, Ireland. Does your Austin go back to Mayo? Mary Wilson
