When I was researching the Gavins from Clare,I found that there were
never that many families and most have died out by now,one little
cluster was in Ollongoloe,there is now only a Christy Gavin there and a
John Gavans family from Killaloe ( he became an American Cardinal ),the
priests at the church at Killaloe have church records that are not
available to the heritage centres,and luckily the great priests there
are very interested in the descendants of their old parishes and will
reply to your reasonable inquiries ( I have always sent a donation, but
probably not necessary but it is nice) and I think that I came across a
denis Gavan there in their records,it was a few years ago but worthwhile
writing to the priest to find out,
