Hello,

One set of my great-grandparents were "Stanley" LEWIS and Mary CORKILL, and
they were "British Home Children." I found out about this when I got the
Internet about 7 years ago. And, I joined the BHC List about 5 or 6 years
ago.

I just checked on the the "Home Children" data bases, and there were 14
children with the GAVIN surname. And, there were almost 25 children with
variations of the GAVIN / GAVAN surname.

If you would like to find out more about the "British Home Children," that
term is searchable, as well as "Home Children, Canada." In the U.K., they
are referred to as "Child Migrants." And, if you have time today, you
could browse the archives of the "British Home Children List." You will
get quite an education, if you do !

This is the web site for one of the "BHC data bases."

There are several very good and very informative web sites for the "home
children," and there are at least 2 or 3 data bases.
