Quoting from "The Passing of The Pines: A History of Wilcox County, Georgia, Volume II" compiled by Mary Lou L. McDonald. The information was xeroxed from a copy of the book owned by the Lodson Library in Vidalia Ga. pg. 135-136
"Owen D. Mulkey was b. in Banks Co, 11-19-1817, possibly the son of John Mulkey. He m. Susan Land, dau. of Frederick and Millie Land of Wilkerson Co., m. ca. late 1830's. They had 12 children:
William b. 12-20-1838 m. Elizabeth Crawford; Demaris b. 9-5-1839 m. unkn.; Frederick b. 12-1-1841 d. 12-9-1841; Sarah Jane b.12-3-1843, m. Andrew J. Brady; Infant, b. 3 -14-1846, d. 3-14-1846; Benjamin F. b. 10-17-1847, m. unkn.; Martha, b. 12-5-1849, m. unkn.; Emily b. 5-20-1852, m. unkn.; George b. 1855, m. Georgean Young; Susan b. 1859, m. Henry Young; Suphronia b. 1859 m. Henry Love; D.R. b. 1869 m. Mattie Hair."
A few paragraphs later, "The names and dates of birth and deaths on the children of Owen and Susan Mulkey were stated as written in the old family Bible of Owen D. Mulkey. The Bible is still in existence, but is in poor condition."
The 1860 census Federal Mortality Schedule lists Demaris Mulkey of Wilcox Co, age 19, b. in Georgia, and her cause of death in Aug 1859 was typhoid fever.
