I am looking for a Geo. (George) ETTER who was born in Germany and departed
from Le Havre, France aboard the ship ADVANCE to NY. He arrived 14 Jun.
1853, by himself. I have no idea what happened or were to look for
information on him until he shows up in Springfield, Sangamon Co. IL in
1859. In the 1860 & 70 census of Springfield he is listed as a Shoemaker,
but in 1880 he was a Day Policeman. I am hoping someone can help me or point
me in the right direction. Thanks, Robert Etter
