Subject: Engelbert AUE 1810-1870 Germany, USA: Missouri & Minnesota

I am searching for place of birth of Engelbert AUE b Nov 1810 in 'Hannover'.
Came to USA and settled in St Charles Missouri 1844 or 1845. Have no idea
where he embarked or debarked but have searched all passenger lists that are
on the Internet plus some quarterly lists.

He was accompanied by his wife, Engel HELMICH (var) and daughter Elisabeth b
Nov 1843 or 1844 in "Hannover". My grandmother Sophia AUE born Aug 1849 in
Missouri was the only other child who lived beyond infancy. Have inquired
of all
descendants who have died in the last 40 years. I have also searched all
records in
Minnesota for Engelbert and Elisabeth including her families, and records in
St Charles
Missouri. Hannover and Germany are the only places found. Petition for
naturalization in 1848 says Prussia.
Engel HELMICH died 1850 to 1852 (no record found, but family says she was
from Westphalia). I have found no siblings for Engelbert. If he had
additional names
they are not recorded in any records. He raised his daughters in the
Catholic faith
but I am not sure HE was Catholic. Have also had records searched in
several
Catholic churches in the Hildesheim area of Germany. Located in 1850
census
of Missouri, 1860 & 1870 census of Minnesota.

You kind people have been so helpful to others I hope someone might have a
clue or suggestion where I can go next.

If anyone has an extra Engelbert AUE I would gladly take him for my
great-grandfather.
