Researching John S. EICHLER, born about 1843 in Hassen, Germany.
I am new to researching and could use some suggestions.
What would be the best sources to research a person who immigrated to the
USA in 1859? Since he was about 16 years old would he probably have come with
family or in that period of time would a young boy come by himself?
Would the name be in a passenger database and which one if it is? What
would the possible port of entry for someone coming from from Germany during this
time period?
Thank you.
