May I interject!

You will be safe from people fishing for personal information.

I can get you social insurance number if I have your birth date, your address (even if you say, "I'm from Ottawa.", Some qualifying question (To get your information from gov't data bases) is, What is your mother's maiden name. This can (on the part of a criminal fishing for your identity) snowball into a complete personal history grab. The next step is: get a driver's licence, and so on, and so on.

Any database you give out for public viewing should contain no data of a person living. It may seem cute to list your children and grandchildren but you are setting them up for idenity theft.

I speak from experience!!!!!

Hi laurie
You said that we should be careful as to where we post or share our genealogical data. You stated : "That way your
data and family are safe."
I was wondering what you mean by that statement? What are we safe from?
See ya
allen
