Hello,
Thanks for the welcome and all the responses to my previous e-mail.
I am researching my mother's side of the family--her Hausner and Jahoda
ancestors, in particular. My mother's grandfather was William Joseph
Hausner, of Bohemia, arriving in New York City in 1901-at least according to
the census. According to family lore, he traveled with two brothers. I
found the brothers on a passenger list for the ship Barbarossa arriving in
April 1901, but my William is not on board, it seems. He was single when he
arrived, marrying in 1903 to Antonie Jahoda, also of Bohemia. I've found
them called Bohemian, Austrian and German, so try to cover all bases, but am
struggling. Family lore says that William followed Anotonie over here.
Antonie arrived in April of 1891 on the Werra. Antonie had apparently
followed her brother, Anton. I haven't found William yet.
Most of the genealogy I've done in the past has centered here in the US and
I haven't had to deal with language issues, immigration or passenger lists.
This is pretty new to me. I was looking for a list where I could learn not
only details about my particular family, but also how to do the research.
Thanks again for the welcome.
Jen

Welcome, Jennifer,
to our "Germany- Passenger- Lists" mailing list.
It would be a nice gesture if you would introduce yourself to our group
with a few details about yourself and the names and areas you are
searching for.
mailto:
It's main purpose is to supplement our www.saxonyroots.com/ships
Passenger lists Database and to keep the lines of communication open
between our members and friends.
Here we will talk about new additions to our database, exchange
information, and you are all encouraged to step in with suggestions,
possible improvements and questions you might have.
Whenever you get a chance to get hold of a passengerlist, even if it is
just a partial list, send it to us to give our database a chance to
grow. Of course, you have to make sure that you don't violate any
copyright laws and you have the permission of the owner to do so.
In addition, you are ALL welcome to visit our homepage:
www.saxonyroots.com, where the main goal is to bridge the language
barrier between the english- and
german- speaking ancestry researchers.
I am looking forward to meet you.
Have a nice day,
Wolf [Zscheile]
