Johann Welter, born ca. 1807; his wife, Maria Christiana Horner/Hamer, born ca. 1805; their 5 children: Elizabeth, b. 4 June 1834; Chris, b. 1839; Emma, John, b. 11 Jan. 1842; b. 1844; Mary Margaret, b. 15 May 1851. All 7were born in Prussia; came to USA ca. 1853 and settled in Marian County, Indiana. In Indiana they were members of a Protestant church so presumably would have been Protestant in Germany. I have much data after their arrival but am searching for their home in Prussia, their port of departure, ship and arrival date. Nancy in CA

Subject: [G-P-L] Researching Surnames
Wolf made an excellent suggestion to one of our new members, but how about some
of us who are long term participants in this mailing list? Perhaps we should
list the surnames and locations we are researching. There may be someone out
there who has a link to our ancestors.
Researching: KEEFER, JOHN,( Johann) - b. Bavaria 1823 - immigrated before
1870
GRIMM, Henry ( Heinrich) - b. Hanover 1832 - immigrated
ca. 1853
GERDTS, Margaretha ( Meta) - b. Worpswede 1834 -
immigrated ca. 1853
Became the wife of Henry Grimm, whom she met on the
voyage to America
