Keith,
Contrary to what you wrote the GLANZ [not GLAUZ] family appears on the 1870 and 1880 census in Kent Co., Grd Rapids, MI; daughter Minnie, was the only child born in Illinois about 1867; so the family must have moved to MI between 1867 and 1869.
Also, Wilhelm may have had a brother named Anton Glanz [b ca 1829] who settled in the neighborhood with wife Johanne and daughter Minnie [short for Wilhelmine]. Daughter Minnie claims to have been born in Vienna city [Wien Stadt]. I say that because Anton stated on the passenger list that they were from Austria.
On the 1870 census, both brothers list 'Richenberg[burg]' as their place of origin; the place name is of course misspelled and should read 'Reichenberg, Austria'. [google for location].
Do you have the names and ages of all the GLANZ children, or would you like for me to send you a copy of the census pages?
I also found the immigration passenger ship lists for both Anton and Wilhelm's family but if you want to have a copy of it you need to let me know if you can receive attachments; I cannot send the attachments via the GPL List but must send it to your private inbox.
Keep safe!
Ursula
