Ursula - that actually could be my Emil - you can't believe the variations
in spelling I have encountered. Where did you find that information -
Ancestry?

Joanne,
the only immigrant that comes close in name is Emil Vonderhinden, age 16,
arriving in NY on the ship ELBE on 8 October 1881; the ship departed from
Bremen and Southampton.
Generally, emigrants from southern German states [Bavaria] departed from
France or Belgium.
