So I was no help at all.
I have just found someone whose birth place was in question for about 15
years. I would be working at other families, until I finally finished them
all. This last month, I found where he was born, with help from people on
this list, and a lot of just fishing around by myself. I have nothing better
to do, being 94 and having had a stroke which limits me somewhat but not
mentally, Thank God.
All I ever had to go on was a copy of his marriage record. It was copied by
someone who had never ever seen an old German record, so it was all screwed
up. They took an 'S" for a P and lots of other errors. But in spite of that
I found the church where he was baptized, in Saxony, sent them an email and
got and answer. HALLELUJAH!!. I am so glad I persevered, so if you feel like
you are not making progress, remember this success story.

Hi, all-
I am Beverly (Pessner) Arbon. I have been searching the Pessner line off
and on for MANY years. I was born in California, USA, moved to Paradise,
CA, when 5 and lived there until I went to college and began teaching school
in the Bay Area. Married, now have 6 children, 5 in-laws, and 21
grandchildren.

My father's maternal grandparents (Gaede, changed to Goede in the States)
immigrated from Ulm, Germany, to New Ulm, Minn. His Father, OSWIN PESSNER,
(so the story goes) came from Dresden or that area. He is found in NY area
in the 1900, then in 1910 Census he is found in San Francisco. He and my
grandmother, Carolyn Goede, married before 1913 and lived in Alhambra.

For the past 17 months, my husband and I have been in Australia and now New
Zealand for a few more months. While here I have been trying once again to
find more info on my grandfather, OSWIN PESSNER, who immigrated (according
to the 1900 NY census) in 1889. That census also revealed that he had been
naturalized.

In the past, I could not find any Declaration of Intention; I had searched
available passenger lists and found nothing on him. I was hoping someone
might know of some new info that has come available to search.

Well, that is probably more than enough to introduce myself.
