Joan & Dave,
I know John Charles GEYER(son of John GEYER and ESSIG) and wife Anna Maria
CHRISTMAN are buried at Friedensville, Pa cemetery. I know by 1869 when
their first son Harry Edward GEYER was born they lived in Friedensville, Pa.
Some records show it in Lehigh Co. and others show Northampton Co. since it
is right on the line. John Charles GEYER was to have owned a small
hotel/tavern in Friedensville. After the blizzard of 1888 or 1889 (not sure
of year) the family moved up the hill about 2 miles to Seidersville, Pa and
bought a farm and Hotel with livery stable. The house is still there today
with a gas station across the street where the hotel/livery stable stood.
When John Charles died the children sold all land and split up the money.
They couldn't agree and would not let any of the sibs buy the property from
the others. This was told to me by my Grandfather. I know the spelling can
get tough to follow with the way people wrote what they heard and most
people had trouble spelling their names at that time. I still have trouble
spelling if not for spell check.
Thank you both for the info. I will check more into Sebastian and see
what I can find. I still need more on my line also but that will come with
time. Jack Geyer
p.s.. Dave good GEYER page.
Searching GEYER, SCHWEDER, LYONS, SCHOCK & SCHUCK, WETZEL, LANDIS and more.
ALL FROM PA area.
