I don't know if there is a connection to the Philadelphia Guiers. My
Guyers were in Lancaster County, PA by the late 1700s. About that
time they scattered west to Juniata, Mifflin and other counties in PA
and some to the midwest.

There could be a connection, but I don't know it.
