I recently ordered the New York City (all boroughs) death index, I
was not successful in finding my Peter Napoleon GIFFORD, but here are
some of the GIFFORDS that were listed:

1944 :
GIFFORD, Charles, age 3 died June 9, Manhattan
" , Elizabeth, age 67 died April 9, Richmond
" , Elizabeth, age 72 died Feb 21, Manhattan
" , Ida, age 85 died April 28, Manhattan
" , Joseph, age 2 months, Kings

1945:
GIFFORD, Catherine, age 82, died Feb. 17, Richmond
" , Gordon, age 80, died July 29, Bronx

1946:
GIFFORD, Florence, age 76, died Jan. 1, Queens

1947:
GIFFORD, Alfred, age 71, died Nov. 7, Queens
" , Catherine, 1 day old, died Dec. 17, Kings
" , Frank, age 61, died May 16, Queens
" , George, age 73, died Dec. 17, Manhattan
" , Margaret, age 79, died June 1, Yonkers

1948:
GIFFORD, Bendedict, age 58, died March, Manhattan
" , Harold, age 63, died Jan., Manhattan
" , Mary, age 79, died Oct., Bronx
" , Mary, age 61, died Aug., Manhattan
