I am searching for information about the parents of Edmund J. Gifford,
born Utica, NY, 28 April, 1830. 1880 census of Petoskey, MI lists both
Edmunds parents born in Vermont. Their names are unknown. 1850 census
lists him in Lagrange, IN. In 1852 arrived Muscatine, IA. Married Nancy
Ann Renfro, 7 May, 1858, Rock Island, IL. 1860 census in Muscatine, IA
as a sawyer. 1861 1st Iowa Infantry. Divorced 1871 or 2, Davenport, IA.
From 1866 to 1875 in Michigan. Married Josephine Johnson Westcott, Grand
Rapids, MI. Daughter Una V. Gifford Hendricks, born 4 June, 1874, Ionia,
MI. ABT 1885 Edmund and wife Josephine moved to Bismarck, ND. Edmund died
Bismarck 30 Nov. 1903.

Edmund J.'s son Edmund (Edward?) H., born 1861 in Muscatine, IA, had a
son Porter William, born 1885 in Davenport, IA, who had a son Porter William,
Jr., born 1918 in Dallas, TX, who is my father.
