Subject: [GIFFORD] "Unconnected" GIFFORDS

Chapter IV in the "Gifford Genealogy" by Harry E. Gifford, Wollaston,
Mass., 1896, on page 96 shows an "unconnected" Branch No. 1. It
shows William GIFFORD (1), a Marblehead fisherman who d. about 1734
and who m. Miriam (---). They had William GIFFORD (2) who m. Miriam
SEALE. They had William GIFFORD (3) who m. Lydia PUTNAM on 18 Sep.
1781. They had: i Miriam (Mary) GIFFORD, b. 19 Mar 1782, m. Josiah
GOODALE of Danvers on 18 Mar 1813; ii William GIFFORD, b. 27 Feb
1784; iii Lydia GIFFORD, b. 20 Feb 1786, m. (---) BUTTERFIELD of
Salem on 6 May 1806; iv Thomas S. GIFFORD, b.30 Apr. 1789, m. Sally
RAVEL; v Polly, b. 20 Oct 1791, d. 16 Jul 1871, m. John THOMAS on
14 Nov 1816; vi Porter P. GIFFORD.

My questions are:
1. Can anyone confirm (or disprove) the foregoing information?
2. Can anyone provide additional information on this line and
perhaps link it to the more well-known GIFFORD lines? (The author,
Harry Gifford, was unable to do this 100 years ago).
3. I am especially interested in anyone connecting to the Thomas S.
GIFFORD who m. Sally RAVEL. Thomas and Sally are my wife's ancestors.

You may post a reply or email me directly at <>

Thank you.
