>From the Bureau of Land Management site, I obtained a copy of the original Land Patent for his land in Pleasant Twp. Hancock Co., Ohio and it stated William E. Gifford of Huron Co., Ohio. This was dated Jan 5, 1841. But in the 1840 census they were living in Hancock Co., OH as well. They lived in Hancock Co., OH until 1880 then had moved to Adams Co., IN near their oldest daughter. After William died in 1885, his wife was living with a daughter in Putnam Co., OH (by 1900) He was born in NY in 1810. They are both buried in Allen Co., Ohio. That is about all I know.
