"they" were William Gifford and Patience Russell! -- apparently -- and I show
"btw 1641/1642" as the marriage date to Elizabeth Grant.
dates and records are so iffy and undocumented that I have no idea
conclusively WHO were the children of which wife, but am pretty sure of the three wives.
1st family -- John was born 1639/40.
Hannah was born 1642 -- and I don't know where she came in --
perhaps not.
Patience was born 1643/44
Hannaniah 1645/46
Mary was possibly born 1650 (or as late as 1657) -- not sure
which family or even if she existed.
2nd family -- William Jr. was born 16 Feb 1656, Sandwich, Barnstable,
Massachusetts
Christopher was born 16 Jul 1658, of Sandwich, Barnstable,
Massachusetts
Robert was born 1659/1660, of Sandwich -- my direct ancestor
--
I then also show Hannahiah and Mary as possibilities in this
family
3rd family -- md. 16 Jul 1683 to Mary Mills, Sandwich, Barnstable,
Massachusetts
Jonathan was born 4 May 1684, Sandwich
James was born 10 March 1685/6, Sandwich
a Mary was possibly born abt 1687 . . .
I've worked on this line for 46-1/2 years -- and it took me 33 years of
searching before I found the index to the NEHGS Register's "William Gifford of
Sandwich" -- I have entered EVERY single person in that 287-page series into a
reference database so I can help others make connections, and over the years have
helped many do so.
I am most anxious to see what conclusions others have reached, as my theories
have varied during the years, and this still isn't cast in concrete.
