In my notes on William I have:

"Ancestors of William are uncertain. Another (unspecified) source
states that William may have been the son of an Anthi Gifford of
Dublin, Ireland.

He refused to take the Oath of Allegiance and became a Quaker. A
deed in his name is recorded for property at the Sandwich
Massachusetts Plantation in 1651. This source states he arrived in
America in 1643. If, as is recorded, the children by his first wife
were all born in England this is not consistent, since the last child
was born in 1646. If he came in 1643 it was just after his first
child was born, and the other children would have been born in this
country. Hence he may have come between 1646 and 1651. He came
first to Stamford, Connecticut, and from there to Sandwich."

(I did not record the sources for these notes.)

Is this all correct? I'd like to think so, BUT...

Regards,
Stu
