I have researched the Irish Brigade for 22 years. Part of that work has been to track down the burial sites of men of the brigade. I have confirmed the burial of John Gifford Pvt Co ? 28 MA? January 21, 1864,
in Section 13, Grave Number 7858, Arlington National Cemetery. Arlington states that he was a member of the 28th Massachusetts, and the records I used to find him there also state 28th Mass. However, he does not appear in the unit roster. This means that the unit he was in is
a mystery. Does anyone have any information what unit this man was in?
