There was a family of Giffords farming at Blackford, Somerset. We have an Eliza Gifford born about 1803 who married George Maggs, millwright of Zeals, Wiltshire. I think she had a brother William born in Blackford but who lived in Salisbury, Wilts. He is stated as a maltser and was married to Marie Rose who was born in France. Not sure who their parents were. Does this help?
