William Cooper Glenn was born in the town of Mt. Sterling, Brown Co.,
Illinois. In September, 1878, he went to Wichita, Kansas, by wagon. On
October 31st, 1882, he married Nell Florence Harvey. They lived in Wichita
until 1885, when he went into the cattle business in Arizona. They moved back
to Wichita the next year and lived there until September, 1893, when the
Cherokee strip was opened to settlement. He and a brother-in-law, Charter
Harvey, took part in the race into Oklahoma. The family lived in Perry,
Oklahoma, until 1899, when it moved to Webb City, Missouri, where William
Cooper Glenn worked in the zinc mines as a bookkeeper.
