June 12, 1798. Court Order Book 10, Page 216: Joseph Cuddin being bound by a ___ to appear here this day to answer a complaint against him for begatting a base born child upon the body of Mary Glenn appeared accordingly and it is ordered that the said Cuddin do find two securities for the maintenance of said child to be bound in the sum of 25 dollars for the 1st year, 20 dollars for the 2nd, 10 dollars for the 3rd and 10 dollars for the 4th & 5th years each. Whereupon the said Cuddin with Frederick Pitzer and Baker Davidson, his securities severally acknowledge themselves indebted to the Commonwealth of Virginia in the several sums following to wit: 25 dollars for the 1st year, twenty dollars for the second, 15 dollars for the third and ten dollars for the fourth and fifth year each, from the date hereof, of their goods and chattels, land and tenements to be ___ and to the overseer of the poor to this county rendered. Yet upon this condition that if the said __ shall pay the!
several sums afore and at the times above and for the maintenance of the above mentioned child then this recognizance to be void otherwise to remain in full force.

August 17, 1798. Court Order Book 10, Page 268: Thomas Simpson, Plaintiff against Thomas Black, defendant. James Glenn comes into Court ___ undertaker for the Defendant that in ___ he be cast in this said he shall satisfy and pay the condemnation of the Court or under his body to prison in execution for the sums or that the said ___ will do it for him. The case is remanded to the rules?

November 15, 1798. Court Order Book 10, page 318-319: John Moore, Plaintiff against James Glenn, Defendant. This day came the parties by their attorneys and thereupon also came a jury to wit ... who being __ ___ the truth to speak upon the ___ upon their oath ___ ___ ___ in their words. We of the jury find for the Plaintiff __ in the ___ ___ ___ ___ damages. November 15, 1798. Court Order Book 10, page 319: On motion by James Glenn by his attorney injunction is granted him to stay execution on a judgment obtained against him at common law by John Moore until a suit in chancery now depending between the parties can be heard. Whereupon he with security ___ into ___ acknowledged bond according to law.

May 11, 1799. Court Order Book 10, Pages 395-396: John Mills Foreman ... a ___ jury of inquest for the body of the County having ___ this charge retired from the bar to ___ of their ___ and afterwards returned into Court ___ presented ___ ___ viz: An indictment against James Kimberling found a true bill by information of Mary Glenn

August 13, 1799. Court Order Book 10, Page 438: Mary Glenn an infant under the age of 21 made by James Glenn his father & next friend, Plaintiff against James Kimberling, Defendant. By argument of the parties it is ordered that this case be discontinued & that the parties & that the Defendant pay unto the Plaintiff his costs.

August 9, 1803: Court Order Book: Ordered that John Glenn 6 years old & Sally Glenn 4 years old orphans of Jane Glenn deceased be bound by the overseer of the poor to James Glenn according to law.

November 11, 1800. Court Order Book 10, Page 720: The same against David Cloyd and Mary Glenn for living in a dwelling within six months last ___ by information Agness Moore.

November 11, 1800. Court Order Book 10, Page 727: Ordered that John Moore and James Glenn do find two securities each to be bound in the sum of one hundred dollars and each of their securities in fifty dollars each for their good behavior for twelve months from this date and further ordered that the said Nancy Moore and Mary Glenn do find security to be bound as aforesaid.

November 11, 1800. Court Order Book 10, Page 728: James Glenn and Mary Glenn with David Cloyd and Patton Anderson their securities severally acknowledged and indebted to the Governor of Virginia the said James Glenn and Mary Glenn in he sum of one hundred dollars each and their said securities in the sum of one hundred each of their goods and chattels lands and tenements to be levied and to the said Governor this ___ for the use of the Commonwealth rendered yet upon this condition in that if the said James Glenn and Mary Glenn shall be of good behavior and keep the peace towards all the god citizens of the Commonwealth for one year from this date then this recognizance to be void otherwise to remain in full force.

August 11, 1801. Court Order Book 11, Page 131: The Commonwealth, Plaintiff, against Mary Glenn, defendant. On motion by the defendant by her attorney who pleaded not guilty to which the attorney for the Commonwealth replied it is ordered that the judgment entered and writ of inquiry awarded in the clerks office against said defendant be set aside whereupon came also a jury to wit ... who being elected ___ and sworn the truth to speak upon the ___ joined ___ ___ to say that the Defendant (see next page 132)

This day came the parties by their attorneys and by motion of the Defendant who pleaded not guilty to which the attorney for the Commonwealth replied It is ordered that he judgment entered and writ of inquiry awarded in the clerks office against the said Defendant be set aside whereupon came also a jury to wit ... who being elected and sworn the truth to speak upon the ___ joined upon their oaths do say that the Defendant is guilty in manner and form as in the indictment against is alleged whereupon the attorney for the Defendant ___ ___ in arrest of judgment and the same __ ___ for argument.

February 9, 1802. Court Order book 11, Page 216: James Glenn, Plaintiff, against George Button, William Martin & Moses McConnell, Defendants. $5.50 cents costs for the coming and delivery of property taken by virtue of an edict sued out of this court by the Plaintiff against the Defendants Button and Martin in which the Defendant was security this day came the Plaintiff by his attorney and it being proved that the Defendants have legal notice of this motion they were solemnly called but came not therefore it is commanded by the Court the he Plaintiff recover against the Defendants Seventeen L 5/10 the penalty of said. This costs by him about his suit this be half ___ funded. Said Defendants in mercy. But this judgment is to be discharged by the payment of eight pounds twelve shillings and eleven pence with the same to be computed at the rate of six percentum per annum from the 30th day of November 1801 until the time of payment The costs ___to be given on this judgment for !
5 ½ % as per endorsement on the bond.

March 15, 1802. Court Order Book 11, Page 285: James Glenn, Plaintiff, against John Moore, Defendant. Upon examination of the bill answer replication ___ & testimony of the parties & hearing the arguments of counsel, the Court doth order & decree that James Rowland, James McFarran & Joseph Kyle with the surveyor of this county do go upon the land whereon the complainant lives & lay off the southeast end of the Defendant's land on ___ hundred acres by proper metes & bounds in the following form, that is to say, as far as may in running the dividing line between the aforesaid 100 acres & the residue of the entire tract of which the said 100 acres is to be taken off to pursue the general course of a large & well known ridge in the said tract and that a report ___ be made to the next Court the complainant giving to the Defendant reasonable notice of the time when this order is to be executed.

May 19, 1802. Marriage Bond:

Know all men by these presents that we Addison Butt & James Glenn are held and firmly bound to his Excellency James Monroe, Esqr. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia for the time being in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to which payment well and truly to be in & to the said governor and his successor in office for the use of the Commonwealth we bind ourselves, our executioners and administrators jointly and severally, ____ by these sealed with our seal and dated 19th day of May, 1802. The condition of the above obligation is such that ___ there is a marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized between the above bound Addison Butt and Elinor Glenn, daughter of the above bound James. Therefore there be no lawful cause ___ to obstruct said marriage then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force. October 10, 1804, Book 12, Page 98: On motion of Matthew Harvey a security for Palser Kimberling administrator of Jane Glenn dec'd. It is ordered that James McFerrans William McFerran & James Kyle do state & settle the accounts of the said administrator & make a return ___ __ court.

November 10, 1803. Book 11, Page 724:

The Commonwealth by Mary Glenn, prosecutrix, against Nancy Moore, Defendant, indicted for adultery. This day comes the parties by their attorneys in the ___ ___ filed in arrest of judgment being now fully debated by the counsel on both sides, it is therefore the opinion of this Court that the errors be sustained and the Defendant go thence without any ___ against said prosecutrix her costs by him about his defense in this behalf ____.

July 9, 1805. Book 12, Page 288: A statement & settlement of the accounts of Palser Kimberling ad'r of Jane Glenn dec'd return to Court ___ __ ___ to be discharged.

February 12, 1806. Book 12, Page 382: On motion of James Glenn ordered that an attachment for contempt ___ against Palser Kimberling to shew cause why he detain? In his ___ Sarah Glenn an orphan which was bound to the said James Glenn by order of this Court.
