Hello, again, to the MERRICK, MYRICK, and THORPE lists and adding on the
SMYTHE/SMITH, HARRIS, GREEN, GRAY/GREY, THROCKMORTON, and FOSTER lists in this
hunt for information on connected families of England with some immigrants to
Virginia,

Bellinda MYRICK-BARNETT, MERRICK List Administrator, here again.

Looking on the internet for more information on the THORPE family of the 1st
Timothy THORPE in Virginia, I found the following. Is the Timothy THORPE
shown below as being born in 1664 in Middlesex, England the one that immigrated
to Isle of Wight County/Surry County, Virginia?

Here in this information first regarding the SMYTHE - Lord BERKELEY info out
of Gloucestershire, England, (the HARRIS family that married into the
MERRICK/MYRICK and THORPE families of Isle of Wight County, Virginia,) and then
followed by information regarding part of the THORPE family out of Middlesex,
England into Isle of Wight County, Virginia.

(Sir) Thomas SMYTHE, (Knight,) of Fenchurch Street, son of (Sir) Thomas
"Customer" SMYTHE and Alice JUDDE, (as shown below,) had family that married into
the HARRIS family of Isle of Wight County, Va that, also, married into some
of the aforementioned families.

Again, interested in any other information regarding connections between
these families and connecting with the MEURIG - MEURIC - MERRICK - MEYRICK -
MIRICK - MYRICK families in Wales, England, New England, and Virginia with
special concentration right now on the branch(es) in Virginia.

Please take a look at the following and, if you will, let me/the list(s)
know of any connecting information, corrections, etc. that you might have.
Specifically, we are trying to find more information on the (Sir) John MERRICK
who was with the Virginia Company of London and involved in the Charters in and
after 1620 and was in Jamestowne/Isle of Wight County, Virginia area.

The TROGMORTON/THROCKMORTON and other families are not excessively mentioned
herein but do relate greatly to these other families and we are most
interested in various connections.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Bellinda Myrick-Barnett

The first individual mentioned by Mr. Smythe, is said to be Hugh Tyndale,

(http://www.godrules.net/library/topics/topic694.htm) had _adopted_ (http://www.godrules.net/library/topics/topic3
2.htm) . This is confirmed by Tyndale himself, who, in his first publication, gave
both names-“William Tyndale, otherwise called Hitchins,”-though ever after,
he used only the former. Whether John Tyndale ever resumed the name without
the alias, we have no evidence; but to a certainty _Thomas_
(http://www.godrules.net/library/topics/topic1879.htm) did, and, after his example, so did
our Translator. “Some of his ancestors,” says Bigland, “having taken an active
part in the Lancastrian cause, migrated to Stinch-combe, in this county;
and, as it appears from the Register of North Nibley, bore, for concealment, the
name of Hutchins or Hitchins, but resumed their own in the _reign_
(http://www.godrules.net/library/topics/topic1552.htm) of Henry the Seventh.” f12 But
why should the neighbouring parish of North Nibley be introduced? >>

It shows this Timothy THORPE, born: 1664 in Middlesex, England as being the
son of Dorothy May FENN and Thomas THORPE, son of Joseph THORPE, son of
Thomas THORPE, son of Rebecca GREENE and John THORPE, son of Thomas THORPE, son
of Mary WIKES and Nicholas THORPE, son of Margaret THROCKMORTON and Thomas
THORPE, as shown further below.

Questions:

Does Margaret THROCKMORTON's family connect with the THROCKMORTONs that were
of Berkeley Hundred with (Sir) George THORPE and is there a family
connection from (Sir) George THORPE of Gloucestershire, England to this THORPE family
of Middlesex, England.

Also, does anyone know if the GREENE family here in any way connects to the
GREEN(E) - GRAY - FOSTER group that married into the Owen MERRICK/MYRICK, Sr.
family with his 2nd marriage to Mrs. Mary GREEN(E)?/FOSTER? GRAY(E)/GREY(E,)
(her mother was either the GREEN(E) or the FOSTER and she was the other,)
(widow of (Sir) John GRAY(E)/GREY(E.)

Also, the MERRICK/MYRICK family group that descends from (Captain) Meurig ap
Llwellyn of Wales is related to Henry VIII, (King of England,) through Meurig
who was, also, Captain of the Guard for his cousin's coronation.
