Judy is right about not getting too bogged down in a specific spelling of
the name. However, I can give you a few leads on a line that consistently
spells the name ending with "att". The earliest known branch of that family
to date is Peter GULLATT (GOLAT) m. to Rachel THRIFT prob late 1760s. They
are in Loudoun Co and Fairfax Co VA in the late 1700s. They had a son named
Peter GULLATT b. 1771 VA who married Nancy HUGUELEY (HUGERLY - HUGUELET)
around 1792 in VA. Peter Jr's father had evidently died by 1772 and he and
Nancy migrated to GA with his mother Rachel sometime around 1799. Before
migrating, they had the following children in VA: Rebecca 1793, Mary
"Polly" 1794, Charles 1797, Peter abt 1798. In Lincoln Co GA they had the
following: William Henderson abt 1800, Nancy Elizabeth abt 1803, George
Washington 1807, Absolem Abraham 1811, Alexander 1819, Rachel 1823.

This was quite a prolific family and a great many of these children stayed
in GA. In fact, most of the GULLETT/GULLATT people you find today in GA are
of this line - some you may find are of my line which is different, but we
were not quite so prolific. Some of these offspring went to other places:
Charles m. Pamelia FRAZIER and went on to LA. George went to AL as did
Absolem with his wife Nancy FRAZIER.

I do have some information on some of these and I am in frequent contact
with a descendent of the GULLATT line, but I would need quite a bit more
information from you on dates and places before I could point you in any
more direction than I have here already.

Good luck.
