Subject: [GM-L] German ancestor look-ups

Greetings...

I failed to mention in my last posting that the approximately 490 german (hessian) soldiers that were captured/wounded during the Battle of Bennington, most did not return to Germany but were absorbed into the surrounding commuities. There is hessian blood in many of us. If anyone ever wonders whether or not a man in that timeframe was indeed a hessian, drop me a line and I will check his name. I have lists of all of these men before they were captured, and if they are one of them, I can furnish quite a bit of data.

I would enjoy hearing about as many of these names as I can, because these men, including my ancestor, faded from the scene after the war and haven't been accounted for since. This chapter in the history of our country has been almost completely ignored in the past, and I want to give these old soldiers their due recognition.
