Rowley.<
Linda:
I do not know what Jenn's book of gravestone inscriptions shows, but
Blodgette and Jewett's
"Early Settlers of Rowley, Mass." gives a biography of the Rev. Samuel
Phillips of Rowley. He graduated Harvard College in 1650, just 14 years
after its founding, and was the second minister at Rowley, He married
Sarah APPLETON, daughter of Samuel APPLETON of Ipswich, and they had six
sons and five daughters. Because of their royal and aristocratic
ancestries, a descent from this APPLETON/PHILLIPS marriage is considered
one of the "best" possible in colonial America.
Let me know if you want more sources for information on this PHILLIPS.
