Seeking identity of John FRENCH

Rachel FRENCH, dtr. of John FRENCH of Andover, VT, m. in Chester, VT, May
26, 1808, Marquis7 EDSON [Rufus6, Abel5, Samuel4, Samuel3, Samuel2,
Thomas1], b. September 11, 1789 in Grafton, VT. Rachel was b. March 13,
1789, probably in Andover, VT, and d. Sept. 8, 1846 (probably in Andover,
VT). Marquis d. Aug. 18, 1872 in Andover, VT, where he had been farming
the FRENCH farm. Their dtr. Eliza was b. July 5, 1810 in Andover, VT. and
m. in Andover, VT, May 27, 1829, Thomas RHOADES, son of Libieus RHOADES and
Relief BALL.

The EDSON line goes back to Salem, MA. The RHOADES line goes back to
Walpole and Dedham, MA. The line of Rachel and John FRENCH almost
certainly traces back to one of the Massachusetts FRENCH families.

Any information regarding John FRENCH and his spouse will be most sincerely
appreciated.
