The Civil War ended in 1865.

The south was so devastated after the war that southerners moved to new
homes all over the world. Lots of southerners went to south america
where their descendants live today.

Our friend, Keith Smiley who lives in Australia came up with the answer
as to
why all those Civil War Veterans from American, England, Ireland, etc.
went to
Australia after the war....and here is the answer! Thanks so much,
Keith !

They came over here for the gold rush after 1856 when the Civil War
ended.
