Try LDS film #0908690. It contains an *index of passenger list indexes*,
and an *index of passenger lists* (hope that makes sense) for the following
US ports:

1) Indexes for Mobile, AL: 1820-62; Baltimore, MD: 1820-1850; New Bedford,
MA: 1823-1874; Philadelphia, PA: 1820-1874; All grouped together.
2) Batlimore, MD Index (Soundex): 1832-1897
3) Baltimore, MD Ship Lists: 1820-1891
4) Boston, MA Index: 1848-1891
5) Boston, MA Ship Lists: 1820-1891
6) New Orleans, LA Index: 1853-1899
7) New Orleans, LA Ship Lists: 1820-1903
8) New York, NY Index: 1820-1846, 1897-1902
9) New York, NY Ship Lists: 1820-1876

This saves a lot of money if you don't know which port you're looking for.
Unfortunately, there is a large gap in the New York indexes. People are
working on that, but I don't think it's near completion yet. Many people
will be pretty happy when it is.

If you have questions, let me know. I used the above film quite a bit at
one time and it was very helpful.
