On December 10th, 1675 the forces of Massachusetts Colony were mustered
on Dedham Plain to march against the Narragansett fort, a proclamation
was made to the soldiers that "if they played the man, took the fort,
and drove the enemy out of the Narragansett country, which is their
great seat, they should have land, besides their wages."
On June 4th, 1685 a petition was presented to the General Court, then in
session at Boston: Below is the names of the petitioners and the towns
they resided in.
