Hi Jan,
Don't mean to repeat myself, but have you contacted the Castle Island Association
yet in South Boston? When I was a member, they would occasionally give us printed material about the history of the Fort. In fact, they once gave us a printout
stating that Edgar Allen Poe once served there in the 1800's.
If they cannot provide the information to you directly, they would certainly be able to point you in the right direction.
