Hi Rooters,

I didn't mention it previously, because I cannot remember where
I read it. But, I read it on the same day that I found my way
back to the PRESIDENTIAL GENEALOGIES site. So, not knowing from
what source, I don't know that it's true, or if it came from
Roberts book or another reliable source.

It was written that President George BUSH had the first and
singular distinction of being related to half of the people
he governed!! That is a bit difficult to imagine, what with
so many later immigrations, hence why I didn't mention it before.

I do know from the above site that one of the ancestors of Pres.
Richard Nixon is 'Rev' Stephen BATCHELDER, through his daughter
Theodate. I found that interesting. So, any descendants of
Stephen BATCHELDER, are cousins of President Richard NIXON.

Now, as for Pres. Gerald FORD, I had read one Quaker related
posting, that he and Calvin COOLIDGE were descendants of my
ancestor Tristram COFFIN Sr. of Essex County and Nantucket.
I have not found the proof of that. Lack of time.

I had found a George LITTLE, at the PRESIDENTIAL GENEALOGIES
site, in Pres. Gerald FORD's ancestry, but that line didn't go
any further up. But, I am also a descendant of George LITTLE
of Newbury, Essex, Mass. I received "The GEORGE LITTLE Family
Association" Newsletter recently, Vol. 8 April 1999, pg. 5,
which stated this:

"One of George Little's 10th generation descendants, Leslie
Lynch King. Jr. became president of the United States. He
changed his name to Gerald R. Ford in 1935."

What with the COFFIN & LITTLE marriages, including my own direct
lines, a LITTLE & COFFIN ancestry of President Ford, is not
difficult to imagine. But, there is an entire Rootsweb list for
the sole purpose of this discussion, which I imagine can become
quite interesting. If anyone missed it the first time, it's at:
