Savage's Dictionary has only one enrty with several spelllings
HAWKESHURST, or HAUXHURST, as he wrote it, or HAWXHURST,
as sometimes, the clk. wrote it, *CHRISTOPHER, Warwick, in the
list of freem. 1655, and rep. the same yr. m. a d. of Henry
Reddock; [moved] in few yrs. to L.I.
The name village is Hawkhurst in Co. Kent, ENG, in the Cranbrook
district. I believe Hawkhurst was a small port town.
