G. Lyman Snow was supposedly born in Boston. WHICH WARD has been the
big question. G. Lyman Snow was born November 16, 1856 in (my records
show: Boston, Suffolk, MA. Amongst some family records the other day
I came across a little book entitled The Estate of G. Lyman Snow, and it
shows a picture and description of the main house (complete with piazz
and billiard room and servant's quarters) a second house, barn with cold
storage for apples, multiple acres of apple trees, etc. It is located
in Shirley, MA.
I'm over here in Oregon so I need a little help. IS SHIRLEY a
wardship of Boston?
That's the first question.
Second question, which is really a request: If anybody lives in or
near Shirley, and they're cruising through old records, I'd love any
record having to do with G. Lyman Snow. The only thing I know is he
married HATTIE CHASE (Harriet, I think) and had three children, Charles
Freeman (my grandfather), Evelyn and Ellsworth. ANd I have his
birthdate, of course. But I'd like to know who his parents were (so any
birth record), a death record (as I don't know when this estate notice
was printed), etc.
But -- BUT -- if someone can tell me if Shirley is a ward of Boston,
then I can actually order the appropriate census and possibly find out
myself.
Thanks.Pat Morgan (Oregon City, OR)
